Féile na Cásca to show-case the work of over 60 local artists this Easter

Art works from over 60 Dingle Peninsula based artists will bring Ballyferriter village to life this Easter at Féile na Cásca, the annual Easter Art Exhibition. Organised by Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne, the exhibition provides a major focal point for Corca Dhuibhne based artists, sculptors and photographers. Showcasing new talent alongside more established names, the exhibit will also feature art-works from local schools. The exhibition will run from April 8th-15th this year and will open at An Máimín, Baile an Fheirteáraigh on Easter Sunday afternoon. All are welcome to attend

Book written in West Kerry stirs up memories of Madeline McCann disappearance

A Scottish journalist and author, who spends much of her time in her adopted home of Muiríoch in the West Kerry Gaeltacht, has released a new crime thriller whose plot may remind some people of the details surrounding the disappearance of toddler Madeline McCann.
Anna Smith, former chief reporter with the Daily Record in Scotland and former columnist with the Scottish News of the World, has just released crime-thriller To Tell The Truth which follows the story of a three-year-old British girl who is taken from a Spanish Beach while on holiday with her parents.
Madeleine McCann disappeared in 2007, a few days before her fourth birthday while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann in the Algarve. The story has occupied the public’s psyche ever since and the toddler has, to date, never been found.
“When you write a story about the missing children you have to be prepared for questions; writers may loosely base things on real life events occasionally but this is a work of fiction,” Ms. Smith explained.
“I can see there are threads which run through it which people could find similar to the disappearance of Madeline McCann but I want to be clear and say that these characters bear no resemblance to people in real life.”
Anna, who is originally from Glasgow, settled in Muiríoch over 12 years ago and feels really at home in the West Kerry Gaeltacht, where much of To Tell The Truth was written.
