29 February 2012
So Leap Year 2012 has arrived and today, February 29, is the day (according to tradition) where a woman can propose marriage to a man. While DingleNews.com believes that a woman can propose marriage to the person she loves on any day of any year, some traditionalists may like the quirkiness of February 29 and indeed grasp the opportunity to take the ‘leap’ and get down on bended knee. The tradition appears in quite a few cultures; in fifth century Ireland St. Bridget is said to have complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for men to propose. So St. Patrick decreed that ladies could indeed make their proposal on February 29. As Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the Moon aligned last night (for more on that click HERE); perhaps today is indeed the perfect day to take the plunge? If you intend to propose, best of luck!
