02 March 2010
Preparations are underway for the annual St. Patrick's Day celebration in Dingle with groups now being invited to register their floats in the 2010 parade. The theme chosen for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dingle this year is Spioraid an Phobail (Community Spirit). Individuals, groups, clubs, schools, business outlets and musical groups based in the Dingle Peninsula are very welcome to take part in the days activities. All entrants are asked to assemble at Ashmount near St Elisabeth’s Hospital by 12:30pm for a 12:45pm start. The parade will follow the traditional route through Green Street, Main Street, The Mall, Bridge Street, Strand Street, to the Quay returning to the Hospital via Green Street and Goat Street.
The Dingle Fife and Drum Band will lead the Parade which will be reviewed at Holyground. As tradition dictates, they will also herald the arrival of St. Patrick's Day with a morning chorus parade around the town at 6am before making their annual appearance at 6.30am Mass, where they will march down the aisle of St. Mary's Church on Green Street. More information on participation is available from Fergus Flaherty or Richard Williams.
