The Conor Pass between Dingle and Tralee remains closed today due to snow and ice. Roads are just about passable in West Kerry however some areas are experiencing some flooding. Kerry County Council staff worked through the night to clear snow from Gleann na Gealt between Camp and Annascaul, which is now open. The bad weather also caused a number of power-cuts in Dingle and West Kerry last night. Electricity was restored to most of the affected areas however some parts were still without power this morning. Strong winds, at times reaching gale force, continue to batter West Kerry with a bitter wind chill. While the actual temperature midday was around the 3 degree mark, this north-easterly wind is making it appear far colder. Gardai are continuing to advise motorists to drive with extreme caution in the area. Elsewhere, AA Roadwatch says it is still very icy in parts of Ulster and Connacht, with snow and slushy conditions throughout Munster. Motorists are urged to drive with care in many areas - the N21 Castleisland/Abbeyfeale Rd is passable but with extreme care. Temperatures are forecast to plummet to -4C overnight with further falls of rain, sleet and snow; with many slushy and wet roads, this truly is a recipe for disaster so proceed with care.
